Yeah guys, just to confirm, these are actual materials. I'm currently researching the properties they have that lead to behavior such as this. The reason it says 'artists' at the end is because this is a piece of moving sculpture, a legitimate physical work of art using real materials that just happen to behave strangely.

Everyone, stop fighting that it's a computer animation. It's real. SACHIKO KODAMA created a art piece like this. And I believe she was the first. Her piece was named "Protrude, Flow". Ferrofluid is the black liquid you see. Ferrofluid is a very interesting material originally developed by NASA it has now found itself been used for a whole range of devices including dampers for controlling and stabilizing large building that move around in the wind. A hint: the actions of ferrofluids like this one do not correspond to our everyday intuitions of fluids. Our everyday intuitions are based on Newtonian fluids. A ferrofluid however, is non-Newtonian. I love the movies. a lot of people complain about the way Peter Jackson made the movies, and what scenes he changed or took out, but I really think no one could've done a better job. and all the movies are so long that even if he did add more scenes in, it probably would've made it too long and less interesting. Even as a Tolkien die-hard, the Elves at Helm's Deep didn't bug that much, though I agree it was dumb that they all just vanished afterward. I agree with Lee being cut out of the 3rd movie - they could have at least shown some of him in the theatrical cut - and the Gandalf v WK bit in the extended ROTK. Mega agree with Faramir and Eowyn just vanishing too, but with all the time constraints I still think the movies were brilliant. Thank God they cut Tom Bombadil out too...

this was the best movie of the trilogy up UNTIL the elves showed up at helms deep. That to me totally screwed it up. I love the fact that all the elves @ helms deep either all died or just dissapeared in the third movie. PJ's bad decisions: 1. Elves at Helms Deep 2. Christopher Lee cut out of the 3rd movie 3. No gandy vs WK 4. Faramir and Eowyn dissapeared midway through the 3rd movie Overall, they were great, but those 4 really bug me.
