slavery is illegal everywhere, it's just had to adapt. People sign contracts for work for which they are never paid, they are too poor to escape, violence is used to keep them in their place and they are still promised payment which never comes. To outsiders looking in there is a contract of work and so it can seem legitimate.

You ain't kidding. I got in trouble teaching 5th graders that Columbus allowed his cohorts to enslave Native Americans because he was a poor manager. But in my opinion, it's better to get in trouble speaking truth to power (and children) than to allow history's lesson to go unheeded. This was a fantastic project! I just love this video.

I bet most people don't know that. It's easier to teach a distorted perspective of history in schools than it is to account for an embarassing blemish such as the advocacy and institution of slavery. It's sad- but there is a responsibility upon each of us to learn about not only our own culture and heritage but to explore, on your own, the culture of the people you live amongst and interact with on a day to day basis. The federals refuse to use the Constitution, the same problems we have today. States are Sovereign Nations that joined a federation, not a nation. The European Union is a perfect example. Only 5% of the slave trade was in North America, 95% was in the Caribbean where they were worked to death. The South proliferated their slaves, they were part of the family. The people who needed to apologize for their inexcusable immoral acts against man kind as well as those that were enslaved are long gone. Why must I apologize for something I never did? I see you points, but they are a bit biased. Unfortunatly, cloths do not last a life time. Either you will tear a hole in your jeans while searching for berries or you will inevitably grow out of them. And it is not completly absurd to think that a person must be extreemly wealthy to afford a jacket. Yeah I think I agree with you Born. WCD is a very powerful album. I love all the Type O albums and can see why 'Bloody Kisses' is probably the most popular but for me 'Bloody Kisses' is nowhere near as memorable as WCD. Stand out songs for me are White Slavery, Who will save the sane and world coming down.
