i hate the phone i bought it last week and i am taking it back.everything is way to small and unless you have small fingers its a nightmare.and as for the touch forget about it the keyboard sucks it doesnt have a lock on it so it theres alot of play with it.and once you buy the cover the phone becomes about an 1/2in thick ...

Smaller? It's virtually the same design used by T-Mobile in Europe. Lighter? It's already almost too light. Better? I see... The only significant difference, from what I've seen, is that the US versions support the US mobile networks. But, you may have a point. the US is several years behind most of the rest of the world in terms of mobile telephony, so HTC might as well hold their devices back a bit so that they can optimise them and fix bugs.

I'd definitely recommend either the G1 or the Diamond (both made by HTC). Blackberry is just playing catchup with HTC and Apple and just about every aspect of the applications system on the iPhone is undesirable. Also, the iPhone's operating system still hasn't caught up with Windows Mobile in terms of functionality. Also, in terms of the specifications, the iPhone just doesn't compare.

I have a wing. I love it a lot and the only thing that bothers me is the slideout keyboard which makes the phone thicker than it should have been. I will switch to touch soon. There are third party keyboard you can download for free which totally solves the problem of the keyboard being too small the type.

No other phone NEEDs to be jailbroken. They come out of the box able to run 3rd party apps. HTC Diamond has a 'dead' touch screen point on the upper right corner. It makes me fail to use a certain number of programs requires me to press that point. HTC claimed it was due to the problem caused by third party software. However, I can press the same point in the same program in other PPC. Strange explanation from HTC. Afterall, I have returned the machine to the shop and got refund. Sigh!

The HD is not coming to the states. Also, if you import the HD, it will not work on CDMA networks such as Verizon and Sprint. I e-mailed HTC a few weeks ago about this, and the response I got basically was "We have no plans to bring the HD to the states; if you are looking for these features, they can be found on the PRO and Diamond". For now, we're "stuck" with the two latter phones. Not such a bad thing, IMO. At least we can load custom ROM's into the phones, to increase features and speed.
