Profit is mostly created by creating value (for customers, employees shareholders). Wall Street and the debt filled current "American way" is garbage now I agree. Create wealth. Work hard-in an ethical manner-and make lots of money. Government (at the barrel of a gun I might add) takes 40% of everything earned and wastes much of it. Snuggle up to a nice read of "Atlas Shrugged". Capitalism works. What the elite in the USA have done is not only criminal-it is pure stupidity. Shmucks.

only the rich can afford charity, will u feed ur neighbor's child when yours is starving? in the game of capitalism, to get rich, u have to depend on the rich. when bread is abundance, the rich dont mind the poor feeding off the crumbs, but when resource is scarce, dont expect crumbs. if the rich is charitable, they will buy all the stocks in the stock exchange to keep the market afloat, but you see them in selling frenzy once they think their very financial interests are at risk.

What would be better....Transparent Socialism....or increasingly smaller groups of banking interests deciding what's good for everyone? Bill Gates believes in the market...that is his flaw. The market rewards greed, ruthlessness and profit, regardless of how profit is achieved. War is profitable, therefore those who profit from it will do whatever it takes to produce wars. They are all rejecting the structural adjustment programs supported by the Washington Consensus and there economics have turned around and away from the corporate welfare and elitist wealth transfer systems. And only capitalism allows technology to flourish. Socialism/capitalism is not the passive transfer of a finite amount of wealth. The ability to keep and sustain private property is absolutely necessary for economic expansion and innovation. As a small, small example, go down the list on the economic freedom (i.e. capitalism) index and think about the general trend as the amount of this goes up and/or down.

A country where individual rights are consistently upheld is, in a sense, necessarily somewhat anti-democratic. Yes having government leaders elected is absolutely necessary to keeping a nation free, but to give the majority absolute rule over the individual is inherently unfree. But that is only by a broad definition of democratic.

neoliberalism's antidemocratic nature flows from the fact that it was driven by the technocratic class. To flourish professions do not need a majority of citizens to believe in their expertise. They require a source of payment for their services and/or support for their professional training. As in the United States, Mexican businesspeople were willing to foot the bills in order to change the way the country's educational elite thought about economics.

We might call it the Neoliberal Party?or perhaps the Party of Davos, from the site (until last year) of the annual meeting of the world's financial and policy elite. food is way way more expensive in mexico since workers spend a major percent of their poor income to buy the minimum to survive. Employers can (And do) change their employes contracts every six months so the workers don´t get any rigth to health or other law written services. we (workers) are suposed to wrok 8 hoyrs..but we are forced to work even twice taht without extra paying...or loose our sad works

I would say, you should do some research before talking about things you dont know. In mexico people work max. 8hrs a day. In case u have to work extrahours then you get paid double per each hour but this happens rarely. Minimum salary might not be perfect yet, but you should always considerate things according to the country. Food among other things are much cheaper in Mexico if you compare. And one of our problems is the lazy people sitting in the congress doing nothing for the country.

Get over it, Obrador didn´t win the election, he knows it, his party had the chance to fight it within the institutions but couldn´t just because they were so inept to recall which of the votes had to be recounted. Had López Obrador behaved as the "democrat" he claims to be, he would have already assured the Presidency for 2012. Still Mexico is not going to solve its problems during his administration, nor the next ones, it takes a lot of time to make a profound change. Well, we do need investment to develope jobs, of course our minimum wage is not where it should be, but it is also a simbolic number. While our salary conditions are way far from the US, very few people make the minimum salary. There´s a labor reform in process to make our policies more realistic but still it´s not the president´s decision to make but the congress´. The back problem is our lousy sence of labour starting from the bussiness men to the working men. We lack of a true laboral culture

Felipe Calderon wants to make Mexico the best place to invest???? Minimum wage in Mexico is 60 cents/ h , but they have some of the richest people in the world. Mexicans have to work 12 hrs a day just to have access food. Obviously if you keep paying people 60 cents per hour they will bring slavery jobs. How Mexico can have the richest man in the world and many millionaires and the rest of Mexicans get pay 60 cents.

That's a shame that Calderon, who apparently was a Harvard educated, does not speak English to explain to the world what he thinks. He is fighting drug dealers that's true, unfortunatelly, He is just acting against not the lord ones he's been capturing only the "minor" drug dealers as capturing the lord which also imply that he has to capture all the corrupted politcis that cover up them. In the UK there will be a trial under the Official Secrets Act about the leak of a memo apparently discussing the bombing of al Jazeera. Why is this not reported more openly? There has been no clarification of remarks by David Blunkett on television that appeared to confirm such an option had been discussed.

Mithal has big investment in goldman sachs and he is member of its board which is crying for mercy in USA. It just shows the speculative business they are involved... Just don't believe these people are telling... same dialogues were coming from these investment banks who burst last week. they may be involved on fraud activities and crying for bailing out from people's pocket and amount is more than 1000 billions [300 billions already spent and 700 under discussion for approval]
