He did not really modernised Russia to benefit its people, but he used it for propaganda. If you look deep enough, it was not that modern. Our reserves offshore and in Alaska are too small to make any appreciable dent in the price of gas or in the amount of oil we import. Yes, we should drill offshore but most experts agree that alternative energy wont be developed fast enough without a healthy dose of govt.-funded research.....a powerful battery that can drive an SUV 100 miles a day is an achievable goal but we need funding to develop it. I say we need to drill for oil WHILE we develop clean energy. Clean energy is far from being a 100% reliable commodity in terms of being the main form of fuel. If we drill for oil and develop clean energy at the same time we will have something to fall back on as you should know that all 1st gen technology is not perfect and has many kinks to work out. So in the end if we wind up with plenty of both, we can bankrupt the middle east, and we will be free from their grasps.

Gas prices have not gone down suddenly because of American drilling.....the economic downturn has reduced demand and prices have decreased accordingly.....the majority of taxpayer dollars should be directed at developing wind, solar, and nuclear power stations - not drilling on every square acre of land.....and Obama will catch Bin Laden because he is committed to sending Special Forces into Pakistan......I can guarantee Obama will have Bin Laden dead or in custody in his first year in office.

Look up the Global Poverty Act, Universal Health, He'll expand the welfare state, and he will raise taxes (where as JFK cut them) he will expand the EPA, the FDA, the FCC, the IRS, and all those other government regulation organizations.
