One of the most somber and beautiful pieces I have ever heard. The first time I ever heard the song, was in my summer band class in high school about 10 years ago. My teacher was trying to get us into different types of music. And he turned out the lights and played this piece to us at full volume. I remember it being so significant because there were no distractions, just full on focus on the music. The first time I could feel emotion from a song without any words.

This performance was from 9/15/01. I remeber watching it live. It was a concert planned before 9/11 but they adapted the program to play this as it is used in times of great sadness. I remeber the conductor saying that in England they play Elgar's Nimrod and in America they play Barber's adagio for times of sadness.

I saw Chris Barber play at the Octagon in Yeovil Somerset just 2 weeks ago. The band now has 18 members but they also played as a 6piece. He is just amazing and during the interval and at the end talked to the fans. During the concert he related all the musical facts and the history of each piece. His humour is as dry as ever and voice soft and cutured and as for the Music!!!! xxxxxx

Alright, fair enough. I was wrong about Miserere. "Miserum" Actually means Misery. BUT, Nobis does indeed have multiple meanings, one of them meaning "No one," Or "Nobody." "Miserere" does not mean misery. Not sure where you heard that. It is a form of the word "misericordia" which means "mercy". "Nobis" does not mean "no one". It means "us". This is great! Its not just romantic story its more than that. Its colorfull image like fireworks of difrent emotions in mind. You can see what you hear. I was very young when saw this on TV in italian opera movie. I just fall in love whit this masterpeice. Strong, but soft, funny but sirius. Perfect. Agree with pneqsd. Why on earth did Chris bring in the guitar? Quite superfluous. The chords sound far more crisp on banjo. It just muddies up the beautiful ensemble sound they always had

PLEASE POST A TUTORIAL!!!! What you can play I didn't think was possible. I thought the most range the hand ocarina could have was around a 11th or so, but that's just ridiculous! Please don't keep your incredible techniques to yourself. It would be amazing if I could play like you can.
