My point is, its easy to take a stance on something, however its much more difficult to live for it! The worlds governments have always taken stances and made promises that they dont follow-through on. Let us not do the same! It starts with ME, It starts with YOU, It starts with US! Let us not leave it up to the governments but rather pull together and change the world! IN OUR NAME!

It is a fact, that most poor ppl living on our streets in the US live better than those in 3rd world countries. yet here we sit on a pious soapbox and say it is too hard and too big a feat to stop something like poverty. You comfort yourselves by saying we are all just dreamers or unrealistic. well i say that YOU are the reason poverty still exists! It is your fault that we have this epidemic. you will learn of that i am sure! Shame on you! my message is simple, yet clear. IN MY NAME!

Our goverment makes a lot of promises each year. But when you look back each year How Many promises have thy actually kept? I think that we can make a difference and we will. But It won't happen over night. These videos are to show you that WE(the world)CAN DO SOMETHING. So IN MY NAME I WILL HELP END POVERTY!

Technological advances have been able to perform marvelous tasks for us, but has it been really life changing? It is ironic that a modern, intelligent society as ours has not been able to end hunger and poverty in the world. Every day we are losing precious people because of poverty. It is outrageous that in 2008 people are still struggling to satisfy basic needs for life substance. It is our responsibility to protect each other from suffering and extinction as God's instruments that we are.

End Poverty, arrest the crooked bankers and garnish their ill-gotten money. that would stop poverty and starvation and nobody would miss them at all while they sit in jail.
By: Jayray200890. on 15 Oct 08, 14:46:50
I completely agree with this video. It is pertinent to aid in ending poverty and 'Being the Generation' that does what none other could do!
By: lucidazul. on 14 Oct 08, 17:55:33
natesohl, they are talking about extreme poverty in this vid, not welfare poverty. When you talk about bad decisions how many children do you think chose to be born into this? Whereas I agree with your thoughts on foolishness, its clear from your statement that you have never experienced the kind of desperation that these people live in.

There are no jobs for girls that have to walk 16 miles daily to fetch water, and thus cannot go to school and to be educated...for jobs that don't even exist anyways. Open your eyes.
By: inmyname. on 14 Oct 08, 15:28:33
You are right that there are a lot of charities, but the message of the video is that to truly end poverty, governments must act on their existing promises. Keep giving where you can, but your voice and vote can be stronger than your pocket book when it comes to changing policy so we can really change this injustice.
By: DrunkenTomTom. on 14 Oct 08, 01:00:33
Ending poverty is completely unrealistic in the society that we live in.
By: SoulVexter. on 13 Oct 08, 22:20:01
thats absolutely not true. there is only one way in which poverty can be destroyed charity. those who have excessive money need to donate it. there is enough food to end starvation, it's just not being made because people would rather advance technology or waste there money

" We can be the generation that ends poverty. We must act now! " Act how, one might dare to ask? By loudly declaring one's good intentions?

if there was more people, there would be more businesses and that means more jobs available, same goes for less people... the less people the less jobs.
By: ExDxReflection. on 12 Oct 08, 18:18:28
I don't care what you say, population control is not the answer to end poverty! I would rather be alive and poor than not alive at all.
By: mwell50. on 12 Oct 08, 14:39:21
the REAL reason why ther are poor people is becouse ther are too meny people, if countys control ther brith rate, you would not have this problem, ther are no schools to teach the people why thay should not have so meny kids when ther no food or job waiteing for theem in the future its not the peoples falt its ther leaders its never the people falt its always the leaders but thay take the blem and thay are the ones that fight and die for them when ther should be no reason too
By: butts991. on 11 Oct 08, 13:03:33
it is a strong video with a strong message, however there are too many charities, and we can only help through charties, however we cannot give to them all, they should merge more so what we do can help a wider range
By: thickhead11. on 10 Oct 08, 07:57:33
slimbigpapa- I with you that we cant end world poverty and that there is power in the name above all names: Jesus. But just because we can't end poverty doesn't mean we shouldn't try. We should fight for justice but poverty is injustice. Yes Christianity offers life after death, but the world is beginning to wonder if there is life before death. be that vessel that provides life for someone. "If you are unable to feed a hundred hunger people then feed one"- Mother Teresa

I know how we can virtually eliminate poverty, all we have to do is set the "poverty line" beneath the income of most of the world's population thus redefining poverty and thereby effectively eliminating it. I'm a genius!
By: Klarita15. on 08 Oct 08, 19:47:37
We sure can stop poverty, but I believe the solution is in providing education opportunities for all children and also combining corporate interests and business goals with actual prosperity of the developing regions. I see no point in injecting enormous amounts of money into black holes.
By: ravendofthemist. on 08 Oct 08, 17:30:13
poverty will end when money isn't our god and humanity is king.
By: zorrokass3. on 08 Oct 08, 06:05:57
I can't believe how many ignorant people have commented below. Think about it! As they said in the clip, it's simply a lotto that we were born in a nation of wealth (and all those who say below that america is poor - are YOU living on less than $2 a day?). I agree that population control is incredibly important- just look at the nile and the limited resources porblem for all those countries living on dwindling water or useful land. We do need population control in that respect.

Poverty is a product of capitalism and inequality bought on by wrong socioeconomic policies.
