The best & worst part of SL is that it is always changing. There are updates regularly & occational problems arise. Its a true virtual world that is created by residents, not by a gaming company. Linden Lab only controls the platform. Mostly a world 4 creative people but the social features are unrivaled. New users have a hard time navigating around & trying 2 find things in SL at first. There is a big learning curve 2 create content. Many non SLer's will diss the graphics, cause they never spent enough time in SL.

The 3D of SL may just inspire them to make a better software program. As for forgetting teachers, you are the most important teacher they have, regardless of where the classroom takes place.

SL is a great way to teach through immersion.. imagine learning about Greece when it looks like you're in ancient Greece and dressed in Togas, or learning about WW2 on the beach of Normandy, or learning about the landing on the Moon with the Lunar lander virtually there? It's not just a game and yes the graphics could be better but I imagine if you got a better video card it might help. Not sure. I've never seen photos or videos of SL with a great video card posted.

econd life is the biggest rip off on the net linden labs promises the world then robs you blind while turning you into a lab rat,technology has failed us. if u promote this then u should not be an educator. your just promoting students to be as lazy as they can. to use this for educational purposes is the same as using wikipedia for a research paper.

Hi, CroDigTap! There is (in most versions of the Second Life client) an option under FILE to save video to hard drive. Three of us made this one. I grabbed the machinima (about 1.5 hours of raw footage to edit into this 3 minute video), producer organizer, pro editor added text transitions etc. There are classes on machinima inworld. Ask HVX Silverstar when she is teaching one again. :)

Hi, Cyndi! Thank you so much for the kind words. We were hoping to gain admin support with this also. Meanwhile, even if they unlock it, be sure to pretest. We found layers of access problems, most related to the need to have adjacent pipes/ports open to enable teleporting. Getting in is one problem, teleporting is an entirely other issue. Good luck!

Man, you sound MAAD corny. There are "No Life Goofballs" involved in almost anything you can think of. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER ASPECT OF LIFE, you'll find ALL KINDS of people in SL. Probably one of it's biggest advantages is that SL strips away the predjudices all of us have to deal with in SL. People have the option to speak more candidly about REAL LIFE situations. Also, it is an excellent environment for people to expand their knowledge of computers, just like AlJadugar did. Big UP AlJadugar.

Okay, Just letting you know, when i was on the teen grid in 05, i learned to script lsl2 which is the scripting language of second life. That inspired me to learn c++, and got me an internship with microsoft in texas. Just letting you know, Second life is the reason i have a life.
