well said ron, always know where you stand, always most cogent arguements, obama style but no substance...follow rons lead scrap paper money introduce system of credits, these credits can be worth more if used for consumables than for savings thereby giving people incentives to spend, tax cuts and borrowing will not!

"he was the fucking best candidate ever! " well said. I would have voted for him if he was on the ballot, but I was told write-ins and "other" votes are not counted in some places. So I voted for Nader who is still a way better choice than Obama or McCain.

Socialism in what sense? As in social security, medicare and medicaid?
By: WriteLite. on 25 Nov 08, 02:35:50
Exactly. That's why there are disclosure rules and anti-trust regulations so that the monopoly power of large corporations can be checked. There is a need for more transparency, and more open discussions with regards to the monetary policy issues raised by Ron Paul.
By: ianclivewright. on 24 Nov 08, 23:43:36
How would he have lost everything? Who's going to take it away from him. Wait I know, he broke the law, the law would need to be enforced, and who's going to enforce it. Well the state of course, and who's going to pay for the police, jails and judges, well the tax payer of course. So capitalism is fine, but you need a regulatory framework, or capitalism is like communism, sheer hell on earth.
By: ianclivewright. on 24 Nov 08, 23:41:17
Exactly, and regulations in markets are necessary and by definition need to be policed. To police them you need departments, and to pay for those departments you need taxes I'm afraid. It's stupid to remove red tape, without stopping to consider why that red tape was put there in the first place.
By: IntoEternity0329. on 24 Nov 08, 20:51:01
Exactly, and in a true freemarket that manager would have lost everything. Its the government intervening that allowed these CEO's to keep their special packages and walk away from their dieing companys. Neither one of us have ever lived in a true capitalist society. And capitalism doesnt work at all when you mix and blend it with socialism. So its hard to say that capitalism is terrible when we havent had it yet.

"The existence of stock and commodity exchanges means that free market principles still dictate the formation of capital in the US." - WriteLite in theory this can be manipulated and controlled as well through very large injections of cash and extractions of cash! is it a coincedence that right before the US elections their stock market PLUMMMETS?
By: slissone. on 24 Nov 08, 09:40:59
I just thought of something that may interest you. I listen to this really entertaining podcast called freedomainradio. The guy is a very good speaker, and he has a few videos on youtube too. Great stuff on economics, really eye opening. You would be amazed by how much of the 'generally accepted truths' that most people hold just fly in the face of evidence, reason and morality. Think about this: how old were you before you first heard the idea that the government is based on forcing people?
By: unosegundo. on 24 Nov 08, 06:15:38
Thomas Jefferson forewarned us... "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
By: WriteLite. on 24 Nov 08, 02:21:19
The existence of stock and commodity exchanges means that free market principles still dictate the formation of capital in the US. The problem that Ron Paul is talking about is the manipulation of the capital free market because of huge monopolistic banking interests that collude with the government through their massive investment resources. The market itself is free, but its very nature makes it prone to monopolies, any monopoly.
