Look, it's comments like these that ensure nobody will take us seriously. First, you need to get your facts straight. The T.A.'s are striking "to get paid more just becuz." They're striking because they make very little money, and are expected to work overtime for nothing! Would you work for free? Also, I'm in my first year and have taken a student loan out. It's a lot of money- and that's just one loan. Most T.A.'s have been accumulating loans for 5-7 years. Try putting yourself in their shoes!

I'm not sure what you mean about me uniting with students since I am an undergrad at York and this strike is about much more than being paid too little and the philosophy with which you disagree is hardly accurate and also...how do you know what the majority of students agree or disagree with? there has been no poll/survey. ;)

to assume I'm illiterate is kind of ridiculous lol. Clearly I can read and write, and I have read Kant, in fact, he's been very prominent in my studies. I didn't mean to come across as arrogant, I thought the rally was very well organized, I just wish us undergrads could unite with our TAs/GAs/RAs/Contract Faculty and apply pressure on the admin to reach a fair settlement in which all parties benefit. Also, can we have a debate without resorting to petty name calling? just sayin ;)

I guess the administration has succeeded in its divide and conquer campaign. I went to this rally and every single individual I had a discussion with had limited or no information (or cared for that matter) regarding the reasons for the strike. I'm an undergrad too, I'm frustrated too, but I refuse to be a pawn for a university who doesn't give a shit about its students and relies on scare tactics and fabrications to pit students against each other.

I love the "get a real job" statement, as if teaching is somehow not a real job. You seem to equate teaching to pumping gas. Want to talk about 'greedy'? look at the 15% raise that went to York administrative staff last year. Ask yourself who paid for that. We did, the students. Oh yes, and the TA'S are SO greedy because they want some job security and benefits, wow, how dare they. There are other ways to end a strike than arbitration... like negotiation, which usually (no... which ALWAYS) happens before arbitration. The problem is it takes 2 sides to negotiate - something the university doesn't seem to realize.

Well, i can say there were supporters on both sites, on the croatian site where czech people who are a minority in croatia, polish, french, german, austrish people, on the serbian site there were many russians, romanians, ukraines. So you can say that was a fair war in vukovar, but it wasn´t. We croatian have at the beginning no aeroplanes, maybe less than 10 tanks. The croats were only armed with light guns like kalashnikovs and weapons from WWII. So consider that our weapon was the heart.

This is the Gospel Choir Course @ York University. It's 3 credits, semester long, and held tuesdays at 4:30-6:30... Definitely a fun class to be in..and a G.P.A. booster at that! :)
