it's good that you are being very particular with your grip coz it has a huge bearing on how much power you can generate , how much spin you can put on the ball and how high the ball will fly.gripping it in your fingers is the key.

The line marked on the grip is at the point where the pinky finger meets the palm. Another grip video has the mark further in to the palm (by about 2cm). Which is correct? He appears to be gripping it like the latter in this video!!

Just got back from the range after watching this...wow! I was slicing and fading with occasional fat shots and getting gvery frustrated. I discovered the right hand's grip is probably THE most important element of getting the clubface to roll over correctly. Overlap the right-hand pinky over the left-hand ring finger is important too (was interlocking way too high with my right). Gained 10 yds and lift with each club and even had one guy take a break and watch ME (I'm a 100+ golfer).

For those that don't know, David is a great player, a great teacher, and a very cool guy. If you have an opportunity to drum with him or take a lesson, it's well worth your time. I picked up the instructional DVD's from the website and they are high quality productions with slow-motion clips, great audio, and articulate direction with notation as well. Highly recommended!

He is right. I am a beginning golfer, and I am always catching myself lifting in the middle of my swing. I'll either slice the ball, or hit the top of the ball. Then I see the ball bouncing about 15 feet in front of me!

club face square becuase you rotate your body. I basically just keep my left wrist flat and keep acceralating through impact. The wrist will unhinge automatically and properly with your body rotation. Just don't put any tension in your hands and arms. If you hit it fat, turn body a bit faster through impact zone (or pull your hand down a bit softer). If you hit it thin, try pull your hand down a bit harder, or slower your body turn. Just my personal fix.

Don't you think the turning of the body creates the release? I would hit a wicked hook if I rotated my hands at and through impact like that. I swing more connected and let the turning of my body (and more importantly shoulders) square my clubface and not my hands and wrists.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THESE!!! Exspecially this one! This is my exact problem. Im just getting back into the game after not playing for 10 years. I stopped when I was 13, and deffinatly wasnt that good even then. I just shot a 6 over on the front nine at the local golf course. I was taking into consideration my shanks on my drives. Ilikeiwetto is right. Most good golfers don't consciously roll their hands over. Like Hogan said, to try and "control the clubface through impact is folly." The club face releases as a natural result of the body driving the arms and arms driving the hands. It is the natural chain reaction Hogan wrote about. However, the club's a two levered tool and does need to "release," but never think you will play consistent golf simply by using your hands only, you will experience only inconsistency.

I know wait transfer is important but one thing i noticed on the wrist shot was he used his arms to get the puck away. I was taught to bring the puck behind me, flex the stick, and use mainly my waist and weight to get optimal power. Is this wrong?

I've gotta disagree, even if their at their prime right now, they wouldn't able to compete with the players these days..Why? Lack of Talent? No, of course not, but its the training method from the 80's, its too different from the training method today. Today's training are more intense, and the evolution of technique over these two decades also effects the result of the game. So if you compare the games from the 80s and today, today's games are faster, and the shots are harder.
