http://www.behot.com .au Building an electric bike without a kit! I decided I want an electric bike, but the kits can be very expensive... I wanted one under $AUD150, so I've set out to do so.

I like the video. The small cog is in plastic and is just used for directing the chain when shifting grear, its cant handle any force.

i dont see whats "not right" most motors can take more then the average amount of amps anyway if you want to know how many amps it is check a car battery =)

lol... that's not right. The motor VOLTAGE is 12v, yes, and yes there is also AMPS, but the power output of anything (even a person) can be measured in watts. It has no point to say a motor is 10,000 volts, if it's only 0.001 amps. Watts is a total power measurement (Volts x Amps = Watts) thats why we all talk in WATTS :)

If you increase the diameter of the cog , you increase the torque .. torque n speed are inversely related !! If you want more speed , go for smaller cog !! More torque , go for bigger Cog !!

All our American friends love N.Z. best. Some looked at Aussie's size and allowed 6 weeks there, and only 3 weeks in N.Z. They said they'll tell other friends to spend 6-8 weeks in N.Z. and just a couple in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Our country has great variety in scenery. Look at You Tube sites... The smaller the motor cog is, or the bigger the wheel cog is, the more torque you have. More torque, but less speed. You can have a bigger motor cog and it will be faster, but less torque. Unfortunately for this motor, the rear cog would have to be twice the size, as it dosn't have much torque, which is why I bought a hub motor instead - Check out my newer videos :)

Also i forgot to mention, Wheel speed (at surface) = Power * Radius Wheel / Wheel Torque So therefore by decreasing the torque output you have increased the top speed! :D Again im a student so ive probably got it wrong! Also great informinative vids, i suck with tools and i feel like doing this! And im not saying your choice in cogs was wrong. For a high torque motor (e.g. starter motor) i would probably do something like that

From my basic understanding of physics Torque Wheel = Motor Torque * RadiusMotorCog / RadiusWheelCog So with a small motor cog and a large wheel cog ratio you reduce your wheel torque. Your acceleleration is a function of your radius's again Acceleration of system = [MotorTorque * RadiusMotorCog * RadiusWheel / RadiusWheelCog - Friction]/Mass So again you have slowed your acceleration. How does it go up steep hills? I am only a student so if im wrong someone correct me!

Dude, I always wanted to build an electric bike. I am also into skooters. I have both electric ones and gas powered ones. I put them together. My most powerful one is 50cc. HEHE

Engine removal and clean up.
Not as difficult as I thought it would be. This is an advantage with older cars
they're less complicated than newer vehicles. But their drawbacks are hard to find parts as well as discontinued parts. Thank god for E-Bay ;)
