First of all: By far the best quality video footage I have seen of the band from that time period. Thanks for sharing it. Good ol'boys from the new world playing in Europe. A few hundred years ago people left areas like Ulster and the Netherlands and went to a region in America called "The South". They became one culture. who says there glorifying jim crow?. to many southerners, esp of that time era the flag meant pride in homeland, not jim crow or the klan. southerner dig the uniqueness of their land, food, religion football- simply their culture... pride in ones homeland, like ny'ers have in theirs. the flag is a symbol for the indepedent streak this is so virile in the south... its not about race unless of course one makes it that way (ie klan). those outside lookin in should try to grasp this before judging.

yea i knew all the others. actually, the song is in the key of G....D is just the first chord in the progression. the solo is played out of the G major pentatonic scale which is basically 5 notes (some repeated in a different octive) that sre in each chord's arpeggios. pentatonic scales are what 90 percent of skynyrd solos were from....including freebird. (my all time favorite song :) lol) i never knew that collins didnt play the solos in this song until i saw this though...

That is Ed King. Gary Rossington is playing the Gibson Les Paul and Allen Collins (the soloist on "Freebird") is playing the Gibson Firebird. Interestingly enough, the song is in D but Ed played the solo in G. Yet it works so well :)
