No, he is no more special than you or I. He is a servant to Christ, as all Catholics are. You are right. Why people are drawn to the Pope is because he is Christ's representative here on Earth. And when he speaks on matters of Church doctrine, it is Christ speaking through him. What a load of crap! big protest??? I saw the most "organised" protest on Darlinghurst Rd... 5km from Randwick Saturday ... 200 or so protesters when they were expecting 5000... Yeah huge!! LOL Most don't even know what they are protesting about... yes I am Catholic, yes I know what I believe in... and it's pretty clear how many of the non religious back the anti everything gay community... Don't worry, we did it for you. There was a big protest, in fact a counter movement against the Pope and Cathoic Church. The media played it down because they were worried about showing a mass of people who hate the Catholic Church and for good reason (mainly for still being stuck in the Dark Ages). I think when you understand what is going on and the hypocrisy of it, it's hard not to get cynical. Ignorance is bliss hence all the happy clappers and Jesus Freaks in Sydney during World Youth Day. Most of them rich kids from third world countries spending small fortunes to come to Australia smile and clap for the Pope while the majority in the own countries are starving to death..
