I can testify to that, I attended the Environment Seminar last year at Berkeley and although most students had more knowledge than I had, I enjoyed that experience thoroughly. Nothing to worry about, on contrary - you learn much more from the people that know more than from those who know less!! Good luck

Hey, Thank you for your interest in our seminars! I can understand your concern and fear but you have nothing to worry about. We have a great seminar for beginners that would be great for you. Don't let the video discourage you -- the students are of all levels. The seminar you should apply for is "Exploring Liberty". Good luck and hopefully we will see you this summer!

I'm thinking about applying but honestly I don't feel that I am as knowledgeable as the students shown were. I am by no mans stupid but They seem a a higher level than i am and that makes me afraid to even apply

hey i just applied but am from italy and am doing a major in telecommunications which is not close to politics, do you think i will get a chance coz i really want to come and participate in those lively discussions?
By: akbrookmire. on 10 Mar 08, 20:19:32
Hi, Don't worry about not knowing enough. There will be people at the seminar at all levels, but most will be beginners just like you. I'd suggest applying for our "Exploring Liberty" seminar at Brown University or our "Poverty & Prosperity" seminar. If you are interested in learning more about globalization and environmentalism, I'd check out our "Liberty & Global Sustainability" seminar. I hope you apply, the seminars are really great!

I want to know more than I do about politics. The seminars seem extremely interesting, and I love to hear other people's ideas. However, my background is far from politics. I'm a Chemistry/Secondary Education major. Would I be getting in too deep if I were to go to one of the seminars offered for undergraduates? I'm not afraid to participate in groups, but with my all but nonexistant understanding of politics would it be wiser to take some political science courses?

Hi Kaje, You get one free day to explore the city or do what you want (rest, relax, read...etc.) So you will be able to explore ATL if that is what you are interested in.
By: kaje716. on 06 Mar 08, 15:17:51
For those of you who did the seminar in ATL, did you get a chance to actually see the city at all or were you pretty much confined to the campus?
By: Libertarinoob. on 11 Feb 08, 07:05:45
It's really great to know that programs like this exist. Going to lectures, speaking with professors and being exposed to foreign people are all things that are underrated on college campuses that are all already full of all these things. BTW nice hat indy

In 1876, a young girl named Jenn was walking down a river, an insane man killed her by stabbing her in the back, raping her, and then hanging her in his closet. While he hanged her he said Bukakke Bukkake. Now that you have read this message, she will find you and her dead body will? haunt your house for 5 years. Every night you go to sleep she will appear in your closet, hanging their with her glowing red eyes. repost 3 times to be saved. sorry
By: ihsweb. on 25 Apr 07, 14:44:47
Yes, you do have to sleep there. It is mostly college students and no high school students.

i have been choosen for these seminars. but i dont know so much things about it and i wonder that is it worth to go there from Turkey which is so far to the States. What do you think people?
By: rashida47. on 20 Apr 07, 05:14:01
do u have to sleep over there, or can u commute daily? and is it mostly highschool students?
By: lancevideo. on 09 Jan 07, 20:32:17
what this video is missing is a shot of the students in the lectures, laughing or being otherwise actively engaged. That would help give a sense of the liveliness of the seminars. I think the end of the video does a good job of that, but you have to get 5 minutes in first.
By: svarainine. on 04 Jan 07, 08:52:03
This is way too serious, too academic. The IHS seminars are much livelier and much more fun than that. "Right after lunch we have something called free time": what kind of statement is that? :)
