From the sadly-departed NYC soundstage show "Sessions at West 54th", and first aired on late at night on American PBS stations (with naughty word and all) early in 2000. Video found via ed2k and probably off of her DVD "Dreaming my Dreams".

I've said it before and I have to say it again, John Lennon wrote an excellent song in Working Class Hero but Marianne Faithful, along with her musicians have created a far superior version, I feel that John Lennon would agree with me on this one, don't get me wrong, I love the Lennon version, I just happen to like this version a whole lot more.

Yes! Wax! The Wax Museum was a club in D.C. that originally was its name. If I remember correctly (I was usually pretty stoned when I went to shows back then) but there were many wax figures at the entrance of the club and a few scattered about the edges of the seating area. I heard the club burned down a few years after I saw Marianne perform there (probably a business decision). I loved the old 9:30 Club too with its connecting rooms. Ahhh...the good ole days [sniff sniff].

And she does sound different as a young woman, less mature than working class hero, where she is obviously 30 years older. This is around the time Marianne hit rock bottom. In Faithfull [her autobio}which is truly an amazing story. Baroness daughter,convent girl, rock star girlfriend turned heroin addict living on the streets in London. I am glad she went into treatment and came out the other side. I used heroin for nearly 11 years and in 06 I came to California for treatment myself. Vagabond Ways is my fave Faithfull album at the time. She really inspires me. Great day to you all- Eric. ;-)

Having been born in 1975 and in the U.S., I never knew of this sing (Marianne Faithfull) until I saw an old episode of "Absolutely Fabulous". Having listened to several of her songs this past week, I am now hooked - she is awesome! This song is now among one of my all-time favorites (up there with Sigur Ros). I respect your opinion, groesion, but if you don't like her music then why did you open enter into here? (As for Nico, I just read about her but am surprised she was ever a model.)

This song was only ignored by this artist. It has been praised by its original singer Waylon Jennings back in the day and in latter days Alison Krauss did a wonderful cover as well. This song if done right can be a devastating country weeper. I highly recommend Jennings and Krauss' cover, the genuine deal.

OMG - Time and hard lving can be so cruel. I give her credit for surviving. Still, this is painful to watch. Reminds me of Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?". Marianne's like Judy Garland as well. She's rolled with the punches, the difference being she still here. I see her 1965 clip from Hullabaloo, and think what was ahead for her. This performance makes her 1965 vid especially poignant.

Marianne is an incredibly gracious and patient soul. I drove 90 minutes to meet her at a book signing at a Boston Tower Records in the '90s. I was the last in line and the "bodyguard" or overseer from Tower tried to cut me off before I could approach her. Marianne ignored him and despite the fact that she had just greeted a large number of fans spoke with me for quite awhile. I have cherished my signed copy of her autobiography and it has graced my bookshelf at home ever since.
